My 8 year old got this for Christmas. I don't think it's cheap at all, in fact I love the idea that we can "twist" it, back to a small shape that will fit, along with the bumpers, in the (included) storage/carry bag. He looks at his Bakugan alot, but with this he is actually wanting to play the game. I don't know how much of that is due to the fact that he is older than when he first started collecting, but this encouraged him to get them back out. For what they cost it's good to see them get used! I really wouldn't suggest paying more than $15 for it, but at that it is a good value for the price.

If you are unclear as to how to play this game, just get onto [...] and listen to all the instructions. Very informative. It is a simple game of strategy that you can also use to teach basic math concepts of addition and <>. The only negative thing about their site is that they play this really annoying background music that is too loud. I had to listen to the instructions several times because the background music was such a distraction. This game can be played by children as young as 5 if they have a clear understanding of <> (greater than, less than). I really think that you don't "need" a playing board, but it would be helpful to keep the bakugan's from rolling all over the place (we have wood and tile in our house with a few area rugs). One could make a simple playing board that would take maybe 30 minutes total (not including a trip to home depot) to make. I think that as kids get older you can increase the complication of the game by using the "ability" cards. For younger or first time players it would be better to just use the bakugans and "gate" cards. Whomever gets the higher score, wins that round. The first person to get 3 gate cards in their used pile wins the entire game. Simple. I'm still trying to convince my husband that we need to get more bakugans and play. :) Have fun gaming! (By the way, I rated the game, not the board itself)

Perfect for 6 year old Bakugan fans! The plastic sides prevent the bakugans from rolling off of the battle arena. It pops open easily to a huge battle arena and can be folded back up for easy transport to school or friend's house. Our son LOVES his Bakugan arena. I also reocmmend the plastic carrying case. It makes it easy to keep them organized.

The Arena is a fun space to brawl with the bakugans. The game teaches math skills as the brawlers add the G power of their bakugans as well as additional G power obtained from ability cards and gate cards.

We still don't get the bakugans or how you play this game but my 8 year old son loves them. I was able to get this here when it was marked down to [...] and it was totally worth it. Once we figure it out I am sure my son will enjoy them even more! As far as durability I don't know yet, it seems well made. I was not expecting it to be a cloth type thing you spread out on the floor but I will say it's huge! Much larger than I expected. I would say a great addition to those into the Bakugan toys!
